Welcome to Agrobacterium.org! These pages are designed to provide public access to ongoing research focused on the plant pathogen and biotechnology agent Agrobacterium. They are currently focused on publicly funded research projects involving genomic analyses of Agrobacterium. Our long term goal is to host data from research groups in the Agrobacterium community to expand community access, spur new research directions and promote discussion. Please see our research community pages to get an idea of what different groups are currently working on. It is our goal to make this resource accessible to all users and we welcome comments and suggestions from the research community. These pages are currently hosted at the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute and the University of Washington and are maintained by Joao Setubal and Derek Wood. Please direct questions, comments and suggestions for improvement to agro@u.washington.edu.

Project highlights:

Sequencing Agrobacterium rhizogenes A4

Project description: This project is funded by the National Science foundation with generous contributions from the Monsanto corporation. The genome of Agrobacterium rhizogenes A4 is currently in assembly using 454 generated sequencing reads directed by an optical map. A public blast server hosting these data will be made available in the near future.

Sequencing the biovar II and III representatives of Agrobacterium

Project description: This project is funded by the National Science foundation with generous contributions from the Monsanto corporation. The genomes of the selected biovar II and III strains Agrobacterium radiobacter K84 and Agrobacterium vitis S4 are fully sequenced and final manuscripts are nearing completion. Researchers at Monsanto, Arizona State University, Cornell University, Hiram College, the University of Illinois, the University of Washington and the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute are collaborating on this effort.
